What are E1.S SSDs?
Sporting the Enterprise and Datacenter Standard Form Factor (EDSFF) and engineered for 1U Edge servers, these SSDs feature a space-efficient design, advanced features, and technologies that makes them especially suited for mission-critical applications, such as automotive, data logger, data centers, and defense/aerospace.
What’s so different about ATP’s E1.S SSD? Why we think it is Best-In-Class
We consider ATP's N651Si E1.S SSDs to be Best-In-Class due to a combination of standout features: an 8 TB maximum capacity, I-Temp reliability, over 6000 MB/s sequential read/write performance, 1 DWPD for 5 years based on the JESD219A standard for Enterprise Workloads, and 1-year data retention with 100% P/E cycles at 55°C.
The Harsh Truth About Harsh Environments
ATP N651Si Series E1.S SSDs are built for harsh environments and tough operating conditions. Supporting industrial temperature operating range (-40°C to 85°C) along with hardware power loss protection (HW PLP), the new SSDs offer the highest levels of reliability and total cost of ownership value.
With ATP’s Advanced Thermal Management System, these SSDs deliver excellent thermal performance, making them especially beneficial for mission-critical applications running under extreme temperatures, such as automotive, data logger, data centers, and defense/aerospace.
Hardware power loss protection (HW PLP) prevents data loss or corruption during a sudden power outage occurs by safely flushing or writing the data to the non-volatile NAND flash.
Without HW+FW PLP, the NAND flash continues to write data even when power has been cut off, causing data loss. With HW+FW PLP, the controller is
prevented from further sending data to the NAND flash to prevent data errors from occurring when a power cut-off happens in the middle of a program/erase operation.
The Design Edge
The EDSFF solution features a 9.5 mm symmetrical enclosure that allows vertical placement of up to 6 to 12 drives in a 1U chassis, thus expanding the data storage capabilities of compact systems and 1U edge servers.
It is available with up to 8 TB capacity and constructed with 512 Gb prime NAND die 176-layer 3D triple level cell (TLC). Anti-sulfur resistors provide enhanced defense against corrosion caused by sulfur.
The design also allows airflow to pass through the server backplane, thus offering better cooling efficiency. The E1.S SSDs support hot swapping/hot plugging for easy replacement and maintenance without downtime.
Accelerated Performance Feeds the Need for Speed!
Modern data-hungry applications demand speed, capacity, and scalability. And the ATP N651Si Series E1.S SSDs are up to the challenge!
Sustained sequential read/write performance of 6100/6000 MB/s deliver high-speed processing and access to critical data. These SSDs leverage NVMe 1.4 and the PCIe Gen4 x4 interface to accelerate workloads, maximize throughput, and transform data into actionable insights.
They Can Keep Going and Going…
ATP N651Si Series E1.S SSDs have undergone extensive testing and meet the JESD219A standard for Enterprise Workloads from JEDEC.
The high endurance rating of 1 drive write per day (DWPD) for five years means that the N651Si Series E1.S SSDs can withstand daily writes to their full 8 TB capacity within the warranty period. This proves that even in the most demanding operations, they can provide enduring performance and remarkable dependability.
Unbeatable Data Retention
When storage devices reach 100% of their rated P/E cycles, data retention can be a challenge. Archived data, which may be crucial for legal and regulatory compliance, continuing corporate operations, intellectual property protection, and other important purposes, may risk corruption or loss if the storage device cannot maintain integrity over extended periods.
N651Si Series E1.S SSDs with 100% P/E cycles, can store data for up to a year at 55°C. This data retention capability is superior to other storage devices with the same P/E cycles.
As flash wears out over time, extremely hot temperatures can cause electrons to leak out from the tunnel oxide.
Referring to JESD219A, Enterprise-Class SSDs typically operating at 55°C for 24 hours a day should be able to retain data for 3 months at 40°C after it is powered off.
Saying NO to Unauthorized Access
The N651Si Series E1.S SSDs comply with TCG Opal 2.0 and are integrated with AES 256-bit encryption for robust protection against data theft and tampering. Optional self-encrypting drive (SED) capabilities with IEEE 1667 access authentication protocol provide an extra layer of security with full-drive encryption and preboot‑ access protection.
